At R.A McClung & Co Ltd, we manufacture a range of specialist high specification coarse calf feeds on site using high levels of the highest quality raw materials like flaked maize, flaked barley, micronised peas/beans and linseed in our mixes. All feed is both UFAS and Food Fortress approved.

R.A McClung Calf Feed Ingredients
- Protein pellet (Soya meal & rapeseed): Soya meal - High in energy and extremely palatable, intakes of other feeds can be stimulated.
- Rapeseed – Excellent source of rumen protein. Allows animals to maximise live weight gain. Provides building blocks to drive lean tissue gain.
- Flaked barley: High starch and energy levels encourages growth and is easily ferment-able/digestible.
- Flaked maize: Good source of slow release starch. High in energy, palatable and easily digestible.
- Gluten: Good levels of digestible fibre starch with good protein.
- Flaked peas/beans: High soya and starch levels. Good source of protein and good levels of vitamin B
- Soya hulls: Good source of digestible fibre.
- Distillers: High energy and protein level with high oil content. Helps stimulate rumen activity encouraging fibre digestion and feed efficiency.
- Molasses: High sugar source and extremely palatable encouraging intake. Even though it is a liquid, it has a very high dry matter content of around 75%.
- Linseed: Good source of digestible fibre, high in energy, palatable and high oil content which helps with coat condition.

Course mixes will give calves higher weight gains versus pellets and are also of benefit for growth of the muscle layers in the rumen wall.
